Custom Matcha Tins
Small light-blocking tins for matcha — printed for tea brands, cafés and private label.
Matcha is sold in small quantities and judged by its colour, and light is what takes the colour away. A tin blocks light completely, which is why the small round tin is the standard pack for matcha. It also makes a small amount of powder look like its price. A decorative tin is not airtight, so the matcha itself is packed in a sealed inner pouch and the tin is the protective, reusable outer. We make them in-house on small round moulds we already hold, food-safe lined and printed to your artwork. Offset-printed on food-grade tinplate and produced to order, these custom matcha tins ship as wholesale runs from our own factory.
Tins ready for your range
Fully printable to your artwork · custom runs 5,000–25,000 pcs.
Small round formats
Matcha tins are small rounds. Our tin at Ø73 × 60 mm is the usual starting point, and the domed-lid tin at Ø89 × 82 mm gives more volume and a more traditional caddy profile. For a flat, wide pack the shallow tin at Ø83 × 35 mm works, and the square tin at 75 × 75 × 75 mm suits a range that already uses square tea tins. We do not quote a fill weight from a drawing: powder density varies between grades, so capacity is confirmed by filling a sample tin with your own matcha.
Light, air and the inner pouch
Three things degrade matcha: light, oxygen and moisture. The tin deals with the first completely, because tinplate is opaque. The other two are the job of a sealed inner pouch, which the customer opens and keeps inside the tin. We say this plainly because the category is full of tins described as airtight that are not. A fitted lid slows the exchange of air in daily use; it does not stop it. Interiors are lined with a food-grade lacquer, and food-contact suitability is confirmed per project.

Frequently asked questions
Is a matcha tin airtight?
No. It blocks light entirely and the lid fits closely, but a decorative tin is not a hermetic pack. The matcha goes in a sealed inner pouch inside the tin.
How many grams does the tin hold?
That depends on the grade and how it is packed. We send a sample tin so you can fill it with your own matcha and confirm the weight before ordering.
Are the tins food-safe for direct contact?
Yes. We line the interior with a food-grade lacquer matched to your product, so it never touches bare metal. Food-contact suitability is confirmed per project against the product and the applicable regulations.
Can you match our brand colours and finish?
Yes — we offset-print to your exact artwork in Pantone-matched colour, then add matte, gloss, soft-touch, spot-UV, embossing or metallic-ink effects to suit a premium tea brand.
What is the minimum order for a custom tin?
Custom-printed matcha tins run 5,000–25,000 pieces per design — larger tins sit at the lower end, smaller ones higher. Plain, unprinted tins on a mould we already hold can be supplied in smaller quantities; printed tins are always made to order, because we hold moulds rather than finished printed stock.
