Custom Money Box Tins
Printed tins with a coin slot in the lid — savings tins for banks, fundraising and gift ranges.
The money tin is one of the oldest uses of a printed tin and still one of the most kept. A coin slot in the lid turns a standard round or square tin into a savings box that stands on a shelf for years with your design on it. Banks use them for children’s accounts, charities for fundraising, and gift brands for wedding, holiday and rainy-day funds. Ours have a slot and a lift-off lid — no plug in the base — on tin bodies we already hold moulds for. Offset-printed on durable tinplate and produced to order, these custom money box tins ship as wholesale runs from our own factory.
Tins ready for your range
Fully printable to your artwork · custom runs 5,000–25,000 pcs.
Bodies we already hold, and the slot
The body is a standard tin from our existing moulds: round at Ø89 × 150 mm, Ø89 × 140 mm and Ø99 × 130 mm, or square at 75 × 75 × 105 mm and 85 × 85 × 110 mm, with a small round at Ø73 × 60 mm for a pocket-money size. We punch the coin slot into the lid ourselves, and there is no extra tooling charge for it — the body needs no new tooling either. Tell us the largest coin the tin has to take and we size the slot to it.
How it opens
Our money tins open by lifting the lid: there is no plug in the base and no lock. That is a deliberate choice — the base stays a clean surface and there is no small part to lose. It also means the tin is a savings box, not a secure one, because anyone can lift the lid. For a fundraising tin that has to show tampering, a seal label across lid and body is the usual answer, applied by you. We do not make locking cash boxes.

Frequently asked questions
How do you get the money out?
By lifting the lid. There is no plug in the base and no lock, so the tin can be emptied and used again year after year.
What size is the coin slot?
It is made to your brief. Tell us the largest coin, and whether folded notes should fit, and the slot is sized to suit. We punch it ourselves, with no extra tooling charge.
Can you match our brand colours and finish?
Yes — we offset-print to your exact artwork in Pantone-matched colour, then add matte, gloss, soft-touch, spot-UV, embossing or metallic-ink effects to suit a savings or gift brand.
What is the minimum order for a custom tin?
Custom-printed money box tins run 5,000–25,000 pieces per design — larger tins sit at the lower end, smaller ones higher. Plain, unprinted tins on a mould we already hold can be supplied in smaller quantities; printed tins are always made to order, because we hold moulds rather than finished printed stock.
Can you make a custom shape or size?
Yes. We build our own tooling in-house, so a bespoke shape, embossed lid or special format for your money box tin is all possible. New-tooling lead times are confirmed with your quote.
